This is a powerful rebuke to the Kremlin’s carefully curated image of popular support. Big respect to the volunteers who risked intimidation to give us a clearer picture — their work shows that many Russians, especially those who fled the war and repression, overwhelmingly reject United Russia and the politics it stands for. The exclusion of Yabloko and the stark mismatch between embassy exit polls and official results inside Russia make it impossible to accept the authorities’ claims at face value. International bodies and democratic governments should not shrug this off: demand full transparency, independent investigations into electoral conduct, and protections for activists and voters abroad. Above all, we should stand with Russians who want pluralism, an end to the war, and real political freedoms rather than staged majorities.
