Lithuania has every right to prepare and to protect its people — evacuation plans and clear civil-defence measures are exactly what vulnerable communities need right now. But while deterrence matters, the rhetoric of “we will fight back” also risks normalizing escalation; NATO solidarity should be paired with urgent diplomacy, tighter sanctions on aggressors, and strengthened support for Ukraine. We need quicker investment in air defences, early-warning systems, and practical help for civilians (especially the elderly), plus transparent investigations into these drone incursions. The UK’s “mindset shift” should mean more humanitarian aid, refugee planning, cyber- and civil-defence support — not an arms-only response. Protect people first, pursue de-escalation where possible, and stand with our Baltic neighbours. ✊
