Don Shelby shared several curiosities about Spanish on the occasion of the Day of Hispanity. He stated that the "ñ" arose from a medieval abbreviation and that it did not have an exact equivalent sound in other traditional alphabets. He also pointed out that Spanish used double question and exclamation marks, officially adopted by the Royal Spanish Academy in 1754 to anticipate the tone of sentences. Shelby indicated that "electroencephalographist," with 23 letters, was the longest official word, and that "e" was the most commonly used letter, followed by "a." He added that "e" appeared most frequently in *Don Quixote*, by Miguel de Cervantes. Lastly, he said he regretted that Spanish was not the universal language and considered it, by far, the most beautiful on the planet. #Hispanidad #IdiomaEspañol #Cultura (translated)

Michał Chmielewski wrote that on that day Russian trolls were to be particularly active in defending the actions of Donald Trump, which he described as treason. He believed that Trump sent a clear signal to the world and harmed his presidency and image. In his opinion, he also ensured a victory for the Democrats in the upcoming elections and paved the way for the presidency. He added that the Democrats should choose an efficient and wise candidate in the primaries, and first win the midterm elections and effectively block Trump's actions, which he assessed as harmful to the world. Chmielewski emphasized that the world is not black and white, but certain boundaries should be clearly defined. He warned that the loss of a sense of security by societies and the return of monarchist governments in a world based on the democratic ideas of recent decades could lead to chaos with exclusively negative and unpredictable consequences. #Trump #Demokraci #Wybory2024 (translated)

Wilson Lima stated that two images symbolized the election. According to him, Ana Elisa, a Black woman who allegedly said on social media that not going to Carnival was a racist gesture, advocated for the end of prejudice against Black Brazilians. Lima wrote that after being elected, she appeared in a silk blouse and tailored trousers, incorporating, in appearance, the "whiteness" she had criticized, which was part of Lula's campaign. Regarding Cleitinho, Lima said that he was from the Republicans, a conservative, right-wing party, but not Bolsonaroist, and had declared support for Flávio Bolsonaro. He stated that Cleitinho used to participate in public events wearing a very worn football team shirt and would go to Congress like that. According to Lima, he wore a suit and tie out of obligation, maintained a simple life, and had a modest house in BH. Lima asked if readers noticed the difference and stated that some intellectuals did not understand why the right had gained so much ground in that year's elections. #Eleições2023 #Política #Sociedade (translated)
