David Alandete wrote that Álvaro Pulido, a partner of Alex Saab, was in the custody of the United States and subject to judicial proceedings. According to Alandete, Pulido faced 13 charges in two cases for money laundering, related to schemes amounting to almost 2 billion dollars, bribery, and fraud in operations involving housing, food, and medicine for Venezuelans. He added that Pulido would appear before a judge on Tuesday and argued that this would allow for judgment in the 2019 case, regarding the facts for which Joe Biden pardoned Saab. #Venezuela #Corrupción #Justicia (translated)

Christer Sfeir wrote about his visit to Pézenas in southern France and described the Hôtel de Flottes de Sébasan, a stone house from the 16th century. According to local tradition, Anna of Austria, the queen of France and mother of Louis XIV, had stayed there during a visit, he wrote. Sfeir recounted that Anna was a Spanish princess who married Louis XIII in 1615 when she was 14 years old. After 23 years without children, she gave birth to her son Louis in 1638. When the king died five years later, the then four-year-old son became king and Anna regent. Sfeir wrote that the royal family was forced to flee Paris during the Fronde and that the rebellion later contributed to Louis XIV's decision to centralize power around himself. He also mentioned Molière's stay in Pézenas during the 1650s with his theater company, which received patronage from the Prince of Conti. Sfeir wrote that Molière encountered people and environments there that later became subjects of his satire. According to Sfeir, Louis XIV visited the city in 1660 and took over the reins of power the following year. He concluded by stating that the house still stood, despite the monarchy and its power struggles being part of history. #Pézenas #historia #Molière (translated)

What is happening today in Ukraine is one of the greatest tragedies I have experienced in my adult life. Let us recall the words of Scott Bessent, the current Treasury Secretary (and it is this department that is formally responsible for sanctions policy), from his hearing in the Senate in January of this year: "What is happening today in Ukraine is one of the greatest tragedies I have experienced in my adult life. The sanctions imposed on Russia are not sufficient. In my opinion, the previous administration [Joe Biden] was concerned about rising fuel prices during the election period. If my nomination as Treasury Secretary is accepted, I will strive to tighten sanctions." #Trump #Putin #polityka (translated)

Vláďa Foltán labeled Donald Trump's post about the Nobel Peace Prize as bizarre and wrote that Trump criticized again for not having won the prize. According to Foltán, Trump claimed that he deserved eight Nobel Peace Prizes for resolving eight wars: between Cambodia and Thailand, Kosovo and Serbia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, Pakistan and India, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, and Israel and Hamas. According to Foltán, Trump also stated that he prevented Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, helped bring home all Israeli hostages including the last 28, both living and deceased, and negotiated the release of over 900 political prisoners from Eastern Europe. He also claimed that he brought home 196 hostages without ransom, forced NATO countries to increase defense spending from 2% to 5% of GDP, and removed Nicolás Maduro from Venezuela. The other two wars, in Iran and between Russia and Ukraine, he claimed were still in the planning stages for resolution or victory. Foltán stated that Trump questioned the merits of the woman in the photo he shared in his post and criticized the Nobel Prize as well as Norway. According to him, Trump claimed that the prize should have been awarded to the United States and labeled its awarding as a discredit to the accolade. #Trump #NobelovaCenaMíru #Politika (translated)
