"Do you want to go somewhere else? Then say it." Looking at the state parliament in Saxony-Anhalt, CSU chief Markus Söder called on dissenters within the Union to leave. "Anyone who votes for the AfD does not have much of a future with us." Söder suggested that this probably stemmed from a deep wound within the CDU faction. After these events, Söder would find it "surprising" if the AfD did not also lead the government in the state. "It would be absolutely necessary. The voters in Saxony-Anhalt have already made a very clear statement." "Given the results, you can't say that. I just think that anyone considering doing something like that should have the backbone to make it public." "Also immediately move in the political direction." "Because I find that quite despicable." "Therefore, everyone who is playing with fire (...), should know that in the end it will probably lead to extreme AfD dominance, that the polls will turn into results." "If the second democratic government fails within a few years after the traffic light coalition, it would be a huge blow to democracy." "I appreciate him, I respect him, and I also find that very unfair." "Friedrich Merz remains Chancellor." CSU chief Markus Söder has again backed Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) and campaigned for the CSU politician Ilse Aigner as Federal President. "The only personnel matter that personally interests me is not the chancellorship, but I would like Ilse Aigner to become Federal President if at all possible. I am very committed to that." #CSU #CDU #Politik (translated)
