PUTIN SAYS: “NOTHING CRITICAL.” HIS OWN ECONOMISTS ARE WARNING ABOUT 1917 AND 1991. At the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Putin tried to calm the room. Russia’s budget deficit? “Nothing critical.” But the numbers are getting harder to hide. Jan–July 2026 federal deficit: https://t.co/68Askd5xFx #Putin #Russia #Economy #RU

My review of the volume Crisis Cycle: Challenges, Evolution, and Future of the Euro, published by Princeton University Press, has been included among the assessments cited on the book’s official webpage. To find myself placed alongside distinguished commentators such as John H. Cochrane, Luis Garicano, and Klaus Masuch prompts further reflection on how much ground remains to be covered in aspiring to emulate their exemplary scholarly standards. John H. Cochrane’s book confronts a question of considerable consequence for Europe’s future: can the euro truly endure in its present form? In my review for the LSE Review of Books, I sought to convey the full complexity of this challenge, which I regard as central for economists, policymakers, and scholars of European integration. An important international debate is taking place: which economic model actually works? For years, liberal economists dismissed Hungary’s national-conservative economic model. We now have fifteen years of data. The record should be judged on facts. Growth cannot be considered https://t.co/7IJy0BQ3JW #EconomicDebate #Hungary #EconomicModel #HU

Who Is Really Manufacturing Scarcity?* "We live in an age of manufactured scarcity." So begins the manifesto published in the Guardian on 10 June under the headline "We economists have done the maths: 'growth' is a doomed strategy" — signed by Olivier De Schutter, Joseph https://t.co/eZFZhbmuJj #ManufacturedScarcity #EconomicGrowth #SustainableFuture #Nospecificcountrycodesarementionedinthetweet.

"We Economists" = "Our small group of extreme leftist economists"/ https://t.co/h3em7wVujH #Economie #ExtreemLinks #Media

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens to refrain from purchasing gold for one year to conserve foreign exchange and address economic challenges, as the country faces rising oil prices and import costs, a measure that significantly impacts the culturally significant gold market and has drawn mixed reactions from jewelers and economists. #India #Gold #Economy #IN #LK #TH #EG #MZ

The onset of the Iran war has shifted the U.S. interest rate outlook from expectations of cuts to a hawkish stance, with rising inflation and a stable yet fragile labor market prompting analysts to revise their predictions, as many now anticipate that the Federal Reserve will either maintain or raise rates rather than lower them, despite some dissenting economists still advocating for potential cuts this year. #InterestRates #Economy #Inflation #US #IR

During an event in Secunderabad, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to take measures for savings, including avoiding gold purchases for the next year, in response to the ongoing energy crisis exacerbated by the Iran conflict, a call echoed by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to reduce import costs and conserve foreign exchange reserves, a situation concerning economists due to India's rising gold imports and their impact on the economy. #Economy #GoldImports #India #IN #IR #PK #US #ID

Prime Minister Modi's appeal may seem unusual at first glance, especially in a country where gold is deeply rooted in tradition and family ceremonies, but economists suggest it reflects a significant concern over the ongoing global energy crisis exacerbated by the war in Iran, which is impacting India's foreign exchange reserves and weakening the rupee against the dollar. #EconomicCrisis #India #GoldTradition #IN #IR
