Andris Kulbergs (AS) wrote the day after the elections that the work of the Cabinet of Ministers continued, and thanked the voters for their trust in him and the UNITED LIST. He stated that the party had also won in the Bolderāja polling station in Riga. Kulbergs pointed out that President Edgars Rinkēvičs had invited all factions to a meeting, the UNITED LIST first, and congratulated it on its historic victory. He added that there was no space for 41 faction deputies in the Saeima and the Presidential Palace. He described the coalition meeting after the elections as the calmest he could recall, stating that the issues were dealt with swiftly. In his opinion, after the elections, coalition partners and journalists showed less interest in the everyday work of the Cabinet of Ministers. Speaking about a possible tax on Netflix and other streaming platforms, Kulbergs opposed its implementation, pointing out that it could hinder cooperation with the USA. He said that the USA currently ranks 15th in terms of Latvia's foreign trade, behind Russia, and mentioned discussions with American entrepreneurs, the Hollywood industry, and security and the deployment of US forces in Latvia. According to him, during the Latvian president's visit to the USA, the US ambassador had organized a meeting for the Latvian business delegation with about 300 high-level entrepreneurs, while HBO had already arrived in Latvia for talks. Kulbergs estimated that the streaming platform fee could generate about 600,000 euros but emphasized that those costs would likely be borne by consumers, with subscription prices increasing. He believed that the funding for the Latvian film industry could be found in other ways, including reviewing the SIF programs, and he criticized the Ministry of Culture for not finding a solution without a new tax in four months. #Latvija #vēlēšanas #politika (translated)
