The author wrote that people in the EU were going broke because of Ursula von der Leyen’s and Kaja Kallas’s policies, and said their response was to ignore the hardship while expressing support for other causes and offering solidarity. They described the EU as an idea they loved with many benefits, but said it was collapsing because of what they characterised as weak and unintelligent leaders. #EU #politics #solidarity #EU

Mirjam152 challenged the reasoning that a lower VAT rate cost the government a lot of money. She compared it to the income a landlord misses out on by asking for a lower rent and sarcastically suggested that the VAT should then be raised to 30 percent and inheritance and gift taxes to 100 percent. According to her, people were already paying more than enough tax. The researchers defended a higher VAT rate for, among others, hairdressers, bicycle mechanics, and plasterers with the argument that a tight labor market could make services more expensive due to insufficient staff availability. Mirjam152 called that reasoning flawed and accused the researchers of having a political agenda and pandering to the government and the cabinet. #BTW #Belastingen #Overheid (translated)

Juho Hirvelä warned in his writing that the western Finn cattle, which belongs to Finland's native breeds, was on the brink of extinction according to him. He stated that the same concern applied to the eastern Finn cattle, or Kyttö, and the Lapland cow. According to Hirvelä, the Ketomo family business from Northern Finland reported that it uses milk from all three native breeds in its ice creams. The company had also raised dark bees of the north during the summer and intended to showcase native breeds at the I Love Me fair. Hirvelä thanked Ketomo for its work for native cattle and hoped for more similar businesses. He encouraged people to check out the company’s ice creams in grocery store freezers and mentioned that the fair would be held at the Helsinki Messukeskus from October 16 to 18, 2026. Hirvelä estimated that saving the native cattle required getting the animals back into production. According to him, they would not be saved in Korkeasaari Zoo or at the mercy of wild wolves. He wrote that the native cattle had helped the Finnish people during years of famine and that now it was time for people to help them. #alkuperäiskarjat #suomi #kestäväkehitys (translated)

Lars Andersen wrote that Soleima from the Folk High School had reported 79-year-old Pia Kjærsgaard for violence, even though none of those present, according to him, had witnessed the violence. He expressed enthusiasm for the report and wrote that such behavior could increase the desire of Danes to remigrate what he called the Soleima segment. He added that only portraying Soleima wearing a bomb vest would, in his view, be more effective. #dkpol #vold #Soleima (translated)
