Een ochtendcolumn Met verbazing keek ik naar het item over de sluiting van Transcom in Groningen. Zo’n 150 mensen verliezen hun baan omdat het werk naar Spanje verhuist. Hans Spekman van de FNV en PRO-Kamerlid Julian Bushoff kregen ruim baan voor hun verhaal. Bij Spekman lag de verklaring bij het bedrijf, kosten besparen, winst boven werknemers stellen. Het merkwaardige is dat de FNV zelf goed weet wat hier gebeurt. FNV-bestuurder Izabela Muchowska zegt over precies deze sluiting dat de loonkosten in Spanje ongeveer een derde bedragen van die in Nederland. Dat is geen verhaal over een bedrijf dat kan kiezen tussen een winstgevende Nederlandse vestiging en een nog winstgevender Spaanse. Opdrachtgevers zijn jarenlang meegegaan in de stijgende Nederlandse tarieven. Maar ook die bereidheid heeft een grens. Het minimumloon is sinds 2020 met ruim 33 procent gestegen, in januari 2023 kwam er in één klap ruim 10 procent bij en de FNV vindt dat nog onvoldoende: het minimumloon moet naar €18 per uur. Dit type dienstverlening kent een vrij harde prijsgrens. Een opdrachtgever kan niet onbeperkt meer betalen omdat Nederland arbeid steeds duurder maakt. Op enig moment is een uur klantenservice eenvoudig niet meer waard dan het beschikbare tarief. Tegen dat tarief is het werk in Nederland nu onuitvoerbaar. En dit is bij uitstek werk dat kan vertrekken. De Nederlandse klant blijft dezelfde, het gesprek blijft Nederlands en de dienstverlening verandert nauwelijks. Alleen de headset staat voortaan in Spanje of Marokko. Niet omdat daar een paar procent extra marge lonkt, maar omdat het werk daar tegen het beschikbare tarief nog wel kan worden uitgevoerd. Nederland heeft zichzelf simpelweg uit deze markt geprijsd. Ik ken Nederlanders die dit soort werk in Spanje doen. Het is een economische houdgreep. Je verdient genoeg om er te leven, maar nauwelijks genoeg om iets op te bouwen. Het wrange is dat zo precies een arbeidsmarkt ontstaat waartegen de FNV in Nederland zegt te strijden. De baan is niet verdwenen. De baan is geëxporteerd. En vervolgens staat de voorzitter van diezelfde FNV voor de camera het verdwijnen van banen te verklaren uit winstbejag en aandeelhoudersbelang. Ik zie daar vooral bestuurlijk opportunisme en intellectuele leegte. Eerst jarenlang politieke druk uitoefenen om de prijs van arbeid op te drijven en vervolgens, wanneer internationaal verplaatsbaar werk daadwerkelijk vertrekt, de onderneming aanwijzen als verantwoordelijke. Bushoff gebruikte dezelfde ontslagen vervolgens om zich te keren tegen de verkorting van de WW. Daarmee wordt het bijna circulair. Eerst wordt arbeid in Nederland zo duur dat een deel ervan niet meer tegen het beschikbare tarief kan worden uitgevoerd. Wanneer de banen dan vertrekken, worden de ontslagen werknemers vervolgens het argument voor ruimere sociale zekerheid. Het meest verbaasde mij het journalistieke podium van de NOS. De tegenvraag lag voor het oprapen. De eigen FNV-bestuurder zegt dat de loonkosten in Spanje nog ongeveer een derde van de Nederlandse bedragen. De FNV wil tegelijkertijd naar een minimumloon van €18. Vraag Spekman dan eens wat hij verwacht dat er met internationaal verplaatsbare arbeid gebeurt wanneer Nederland de prijs ervan steeds verder opdrijft. Spekman en Bushoff stonden de gevolgen te veroordelen van beleid waarvoor ze zelf al jaren pleiten. Dat het werk verdwijnt en dat mensen op straat komen te staan, is mede hun verantwoordelijkheid. De journalistieke verantwoordelijkheid begint bij de vraag waarom niemand hen daarmee confronteerde. Die vraag kwam niet. Zo konden degenen die mede verantwoordelijk zijn voor het verdwijnen van deze banen zich presenteren als verdedigers van de mensen die daardoor op straat kwamen te staan. #arbeidsmarkt #werkgelegenheid #minimumloon

Politiek opportunisme sluipt inmiddels ook de begrotingstoestanden in. Partijen tellen hun knopen. Hoeveel zetels heb ik nu en hoeveel denk ik er na eventuele verkiezingen te krijgen? Meer of minder? D66/VVD/CDA staan op verlies, het is hun begroting, zij willen blijven zitten. BBB heeft er 3 en staat op verlies, zou daarom voor de begroting kunnen gaan stemmen. Mona heeft meer tijd nodig voor haar nieuwe partij, richt zich op 2029, zou daarom voor kunnen gaan stemmen. Idem dito voor DNA. JA21 kan denken dat met de huidige 9 zetels de max mogelijk is bereikt en daarom voor stemmen. Op links zit alleen Pro in de lift, dat kan reden zijn tegen de begroting te stemmen. FvD op rechts idem dito. En als je dan voor stemt, pikt jouw achterban het op de langere termijn bij de volgende verkiezingen dan dat door jou het eigen risico naar 460 en in latere jaren naar 475, 490, 505, 520, 535, 550, etc. euro per jaar stijgt? Wordt je dan over drie jaar niet alsnog afgestraft voor het wegtrekken van belangrijke investeringen in de zorg waar onnodig door jou de personele tekorten tot ver boven de 100.000 gestegen zijn? #Politiek #Begroting #Verkiezingen

Man spürt, dass er nicht aus Opportunismus, sondern aus tiefer Überzeugung vollkommen legitime journalistische Fragen abbürstet. Er duldet es nicht, dass seine mächtigen Herren kritisch hinterfragt werden. Der Staat ist er, wenn er da auf seinem kleinen, piefigen Sprecherplatz sitzt und hochmütig lächelt. Genau diese Leute, diese Swamp-Gestalten mit ihrer ganzen verächtlichen Mentalität sind dafür verantwortlich, dass die alten Parteien untergehen.
