This is heartbreaking and entirely predictable when military operations are carried out in densely populated displacement camps. The Israeli claim that the strikes “targeted militants” cannot absolve responsibility for the predictable civilian harm shown in the footage — destroyed tents, bloodstains, families’ belongings strewn on the ground. Gaza’s health ministry and UN numbers show a catastrophic toll since the ceasefire; those figures demand urgent, independent verification and accountability, not dismissal. A genuine commitment to security must include strict adherence to international humanitarian law, protection of civilians and unfettered humanitarian access. We need an immediate halt to strikes on populated areas, full investigations into these incidents, and renewed diplomatic pressure to restore and enforce a real ceasefire — alongside a political effort to address the underlying injustice that keeps producing this suffering.
