I want to tell you that Caracol Radio had to cancel a debate on the discussion of abortion because they failed to get congress members or organizations to participate against me in the debate. They say it's with arguments, but they flee from the debate under the slogan: "women's rights are not debated." But in reality, it is the way they impose a vision of such a complex discussion as abortion and the lack of protection for the unborn and the pregnant mother. What happened yesterday, far from being violent (among other things because it was just one among all of them), was a claim. Not only a claim for life but a claim to have the debate exactly where it should take place, which is in the Congress of the Republic. To reclaim the legitimate right I have to be in this space to express something: They cannot speak in my name, nor in the name of the women I represent; not all women promote and defend abortion. In fact, some question it, and I wish they would take the time to listen to those of us who were on that side and today defend life, but especially to those who voluntarily had abortions and now regret it. Being pro-life is not just anti-abortion; being pro-life is a whole worldview, a structural reading of our society. How is motherhood? How is the quality of life? Does insecurity and violence influence decisions like being a mom or not? What happens with the adoption system? What alternatives exist so a woman does not have to resort to abortion? How do we improve the economic capacity of families to care for their children? How do we solve the family crisis? How do we make our country a place that prefers to give life rather than end it? How do we protect childhood from all threats to their life, freedom, and integrity? This needs to be talked about, and we should not shy away from the debate. If they set aside their prejudices, they would realize that questioning abortion is legitimate. #DerechosHumanos #Aborto #Vida (translated)
