#Innocence
Ahmed Laaouej 2d

As I had already written to you, I am viscerally attached to the presumption of innocence. On the sidelines of the interview he granted us, the head of the Brussels PS, Ahmed Laaouej, reiterates his determination not to yield to the threat from the president of the MR, Georges-Louis Bouchez, who conditions the refinancing of the social housing sector on the departure of the socialist Lotfi Mostefa from the presidency of the Foyer Anderlechtois. #FoyerAnderlechtois #LogementSocial #PolitiqueBruxelloise (translated)

Valérie Pécresse, president of the LR party in the Île-de-France region, proposes to deprive students sanctioned by the disciplinary council of regional assistance, a measure considered legally fragile and likely to constitute a double penalty, given the presumption of innocence that is owed to them as long as they have not been convicted. #ÎledeFrance #ValériePécresse #AidesScolaires (translated)

The author was pleased with the announced reintegration of Bruno Attal into the police following a decision by the administrative court. He stated that Attal had been targeted by a political decision for criticizing Emmanuel Macron and undermining the presumption of innocence. He also noted that he had been reproached for saying that the police had better things to do than checking health passes on terraces while drugs were being sold 50 meters away. #Justice #Police #Liberté (translated)

Ugo Bernalicis φ 7d

Ugo Bernalicis denounced the summons of parents by a prefect to remind them of their alleged legal responsibility for acts that had not been judged. He argued that the administrative authority could neither replace the judiciary nor publicly comment on the responsibility of individuals before a judicial decision. While some might see this as a communication operation, he indicated that he perceived the trivialization of a repressive logic and a worrying extension of the role of prefects in justice. He reminded that the separation of powers and the presumption of innocence must be respected, even in the name of public order. #Justice #SéparationDesPouvoirs #DroitsDeLHomme (translated)

Seydi Ba asked the prefect on what basis he considered minors to be involved, whether he had consulted their criminal records and on what grounds. He also asked if they had been convicted and if, failing that, the presumption of innocence was still recognized for them. Ba stated that summoning parents to remind them of their obligations was the responsibility of the prosecutor and not the prefect, adding that the presence of the public prosecutor did not change this prerogative. He believed that the priority given to communication relegated the separation of powers to the background. #Justice #DroitsDesMineurs #SéparationDesPouvoirs (translated)

🚨💣 BREAKING : ▪️#ManCity will attempt to demonstrate its innocence by asserting that certain sponsorship contracts were partly financed by the Abu Dhabi government, rather than by the Abu Dhabi United Group, the private company owned by Sheikh Mansour. According to this argument, these agreements would therefore not constitute a violation of the rules. ▪️ The "irrefutable evidence" put forth by #ManCity throughout the case with the Premier League consists of bank statements from the government and testimonies presented at the hearing. They show that money was transferred from government accounts to sponsors, who then used these funds to pay @ManCity. ▪️The independent commission determined that Sheikh Mansour was unaware of what it describes as a series of "fictitious" agreements. On appeal, #ManCity is expected to argue that it is implausible for Mansour to have been unaware that nearly £830 million of his own money was being used in this manner. The club is also likely to contest the use of the term "fictitious," arguing that it is not merely a word indicating something suspicious, but a legal term that has been improperly applied in this case. ▪️#ManCity's lawyers are also expected to challenge the time taken by the independent commission to render its verdict. They will argue that, in this type of case, decisions should normally be made within three months after the hearing ends, so that judges maintain an accurate memory of the examined elements. According to City, this delay would render the decision “legally unsafe.” The club will also emphasize that it presented 24 witnesses at the hearing, while the Premier League provided no witnesses confirming the existence of the alleged conspiracy. #politique #hypocrisie #retraite
