Der Veranstaltungsort, das Bürgerbaus Wilhemsburg, wurde mit Hetze zuplakatiert. Der Veranstaltungssaal erhielt eine Mail, in der gefordert wurde, dass ich nicht auftreten sollte. Ich habe mich sachlich dagegen gewehrt. Und der Saal ließ sich letztendlich nicht bedrängen. Das ist wichtig. Zivilgesellschaft darf sich nie einschüchtern lassen. Wenigstens war die Polizei diesmal zum Schutz, draußen. Und nicht zur Überwachung, drinnen. So oder so aber wäre ich nach Hamburg gereist. Die Deutschen Juristinnen für das Völkerrecht (DJfdV) haben eine grandiose Veranstaltung auf die Beine gestellt. Mit wichtigen Einblicken in die völkerrechtliche Bewertung des Genozids in Gaza und andere Teilfragen durch Expertinnen und Experten wie Benjamin Düsberg, Ammar Boustami, Sebastian Scheerer, Yolanda Scheytt oder Alexander Gorski. Mein Beitrag lebte von den Schilderungen des Zeugen des Genozids, Abed Hassan. Abed machte anhand seiner persönlichen Erfahrungen und Aufzeichnungen deutlich, dass deutsche Medien früh von konkreten genozidalen Handlungen hätten Bescheid wissen müssen. Mein Kollege Fabian Goldmann lieferte auch einen brillianten Beitrag zu der Rolle deutscher Medien. Ich selbst sprach darüber, dass Journalismus diese dringende Wahrheit - nämlich, dass ein Genozid stattfindet - furchtlos, klar und laut benennen muss. Eben auch, weil Presse eine Vertretung der Zivilgesellschaft gegen die Mächtigten sein sollte. Der große deutsche jüdische Journalist Carl von Ossietzky, der für seine Wahrheit von den Nazis in ein KZ deportiert wurde, erinnerte seinerzeit daran, dass der Journalismus diese Gefahr nicht meiden sollte.
