The author revisited an April post, saying the gap in public understanding of large language model capabilities had widened and had become more like a “sharp funnel” than two groups talking past each other. They estimated that roughly 6 billion people, or about 75% of the population, had “barely come” to something; the post ended before completing that thought.

The author wrote that the gap in shared understanding of LLM capabilities was widening, shifting from people talking past one another to what they described as a “sharp funnel”. They estimated that around 6 billion people, or roughly 75% of the population, had “barely come”—but the post ended before completing the thought.

The author acknowledged that he was mistaken about the population trend in Gaza, which he said had slightly decreased in absolute terms since October 7, 2023. He added that this did not change, in his opinion, the essence of his argument: a war was not a genocide. He believed that the relevant question was not whether there was a genocide in Gaza, and then began to mention its origin without finishing his sentence. #Gaza #Guerre #Conflit #PS #IL #GZ (translated)

The Folle Histoire regretted that Mao did not settle the issue of the Kuomintang in 1949, believing that it would have simplified the current situation. According to the author, the party was no more commendable at that time than the Chinese communists, but it no longer ruled Taiwan, and Chiang Kai-shek died at the same time as Mao. The author added that Taiwan has since become a democracy to which its population seems attached and said he finds it hard to understand why some wish for its forced attachment to the People's Republic of China. He felt that this amounts to applying the principle of the right of peoples to self-determination in a variable manner. He also wrote that Taiwan has been a thorn in China's side since the 1950s and that the United States fully plays on this situation, while specifying that the relationships between Washington and Taipei are more complex. #Taïwan #Mao #Kuomintang (translated)

The author asked Amadou Ba to invite the fishermen to particularly follow the investigation commission on fishing licenses, while emphasizing that the issue concerned the entire population. He indicated that the hearings were most often conducted in the national language. (translated)

Nathalie Arthaud felt that Lecornu's announcements about fuel prices, made during the youth mobilization, showed that he was mainly afraid of the rebellion spreading to the entire working population. She called for them to show him that he was right to fear their anger. #Mobilisation #Carburant #Colère (translated)

A new report from WWF shows that populations of wild vertebrates have decreased by 73 percent since 1970, creating an acute crisis for biodiversity, but there is hope through successes with species like tigers and elephants, while extensive changes in the energy, finance, and food sectors are required to reverse the trend. #BiologiskMångfald #WWF #HållbarUtveckling (translated)
