Steven Arrazola de Oñate asked whether Guy Verhofstadt would finally fall from his pedestal. He wrote that, in his opinion, Verhofstadt had remained politically upright after the publication in 2009 of a book by Leo Goovaerts, who was for many years the treasurer of the PVV/VLD. In *What I Saw Was Sobering. Memoir of a Treasurer at the VLD*, Goovaerts, according to Arrazola de Oñate, painted a devastating picture of the financial and political practices within the party and made serious accusations against Verhofstadt. Arrazola de Oñate stated that Verhofstadt, like Frank Vandenbroucke and others involved in the Agusta scandal, had been able to count on a protective stance from a large part of the mainstream media for years. Journalists who expressed sharp criticism, such as Jurgen Verstrepen, had, according to him, later disappeared from the media landscape. He wrote that he hoped that those he believed had gotten away with lies, deceit, and political power would eventually be held accountable. He concluded with a coarse reference to karma. #politiek #waarheid #media (translated)

Too bad, just pay up on paper profits at least until 2030. And in the meantime, fictional returns in 2027 are set at +8%, because someone has to pay for it. Congratulations, huh! *VVD is patting itself on the back with a great plan* #belasting #cryptocurrency #financiën (translated)

What incredibly sad news. During The Smartest Person, I got to know Paulien both on and off stage as sharp, funny, and incredibly sweet. I cherish the beautiful memories of our conversations and her wonderful sense of language and humor. She was not able to win the battle against cancer, but the impact she has made with her words, stories, and performances lives on. Much strength and love to her family, friends, and everyone who loved her. How she will be missed. #herinneringen #sterkte #kanker (translated)
