Surgeon Frans van Workum believes that artificial intelligence will operate independently in 20 years and may perform better than human surgeons, while he and Estefania Talavera Martinez are researching whether AI can learn the intuition of an experienced surgeon to accurately assess tissue tension during surgeries. #AIinChirurgie #KunstmatigeIntelligentie #DigitaleRevolutie (translated)

Tadek Solarz wrote that TNO had calculated that large-scale installation of hybrid heat pumps in Dutch homes could theoretically save about 3.6 megatons of CO₂ equivalent per year. He compared this to the global fossil CO₂ emissions of 38.1 billion tons, which he stated amounted to about 0.0094%. Solarz wrote that those emissions are currently growing by about 1% per year, or about 380 million tons, and that global emissions increase in about three and a half days by as much as the Netherlands would save in a whole year with that operation. #duurzaamheid #klimaat #energiesparen (translated)

The author wrote that the Antwerp police wanted to deploy 1000 officers on New Year's Eve to deter rioters with 'Operation Nemesis'. According to the author, the name referred to the Greek goddess of righteous vengeance. The author described the approach as 'controlled intimidation' and wrote that Vlaams Belang had been asking for this for years. The message ended with the unfinished words: "Let's show who." #Antwerpen #Oudejaar #Veiligheid #BE #GR (translated)

Fleur Agema wrote on Elder's Day that she was ashamed of the way the minority cabinet was handling the elderly, according to her. She stated that there were cuts in nursing homes and domestic help, and that people who needed home care after an operation had to pay a personal contribution. Agema wondered if the elderly were affected because they were not feared or would not come en masse to the Malieveld, and asked if FNV was letting them down. She called on the elderly to take a seat in the public gallery of the House of Representatives from October 12 to 15 during the budget debate of VWS. https://t.co/2IDWoPtP1Q #Ouderenzorg #TweedeKamer #FNV (translated)
