Fleur Agema wrote that Minister Mirjam Sterk started talking about reforms herself in Café Kockelmann, but according to Agema, she did not receive any questions about the extent of the cuts to elderly care. She referred to these as not being reforms and stated that the plans included, among other things, an increase in the personal deductible to 400 euros, a personal contribution for home care, and the elimination of household help with a safety net. She also mentioned the cessation of funding for 6,000 nursing home places and the cancellation of the return of care homes, while according to her it had been shown that these were the most suitable for 20,000 vulnerable elderly people. Agema criticized the broadcast and addressed Mats Akkerman at the end. #ouderenzorg #bezuinigingen #hervormingen (translated)

Madelon Vos wrote that entrepreneurs, according to the CEO of DSM, needed a reliable government, but did not get one. She stated that Dutch politics trivialized the effects of the income tax in box 2 and the high rates in box 3, and that this policy severely affected entire sectors, including the Dutch crypto and precious metals sector with more than two million investors. Vos wrote that investors had to keep track of their real returns themselves, while some banks and brokers could not provide that data and the Tax Authority had not yet verified the calculations. According to her, investors would want to deduct inflation, transaction costs, currency costs, and subscription costs from that calculation. She also reported that the man who had been at the basis of the law had since advocated for the withdrawal of the amendment and the law and for a new piece of legislation. Furthermore, Vos pointed to the rising interest rates in France and the possible consequences of that for the Netherlands. She wondered if war was looming and wrote that the Netherlands was increasing pressure on Russia. https://t.co/X4T4ze43tV #ondernemen #beleggen #politiek (translated)

Roy, who described himself as a politically right-leaning former member of the VVD, wrote that he no longer knew who to vote for. He excluded a populist party on the right and even mentioned considering PRO, although that didn't make economic sense and wasn't logical for him personally. According to him, the party members were at least honest and human. Roy wrote that he had previously found Jesse Klaver weak and unconvincing, but that he now made a different impression: Klaver was, in his opinion, substantively strong and seemed to be developing leadership qualities. Roy also stated that Mark Rutte had called for people to look out for one another upon his departure, while the VVD under Dilan Yesilgöz did the opposite according to him. Yesilgöz, according to Roy, had ruined much for her party, although he found her good on Defense and previously on Justice and Security. According to Roy, PRO was precisely a party that paid attention to others. As an example, he mentioned the Self-Podcast by Sander Schimmelpenninck and Jaap Reesema featuring Lisa Westerveld. He claimed Westerveld dedicated herself day and night to underprivileged Dutch citizens. In the podcast, he also heard how demotivating work in the House of Representatives could be: requested debates from Westerveld sometimes did not make it to the agenda, while the right-wing majority preferred to debate asylum again. When a topic made the news, politicians were, in his opinion, always at the front. Roy wrote that the world would be a better place with more people like Westerveld. #politiek #VVD #Nederland (translated)

Steven Arrazola de Oñate wrote that Trump was right according to him, and that Volodymyr Zelensky should have reached an agreement earlier. He suggested that European leaders should have focused more on negotiations from the beginning and had to face the military situation; this could have possibly prevented a lot of human suffering. According to Arrazola de Oñate, Russia occupied about a fifth of Ukrainian territory and the war had reportedly claimed nearly two million military casualties, including dead, wounded, and missing. He believed that European politicians and media did not fundamentally question their strategy nonetheless. Arrazola de Oñate wrote that he never believed Ukraine could win the war militarily and that he did not expect the country to reclaim all the lost territory. He acknowledged that his position could provoke negative reactions and stated that he wanted more European leaders to express what he called uncomfortable truths. He also asked how many lives would still be sacrificed before diplomacy took precedence over political rhetoric. #Oorlog #Diplomatie #Vrede (translated)
