Charis Doukas stated that, following reports of a gas smell in Gravva, crews from the responsible company were conducting an extensive secondary inspection of the gas facilities for three days, under the order and direct supervision of the Municipality of Athens. He said that the report was expected late that same night. At the same time, he blamed the government and the relevant state mechanisms for their absence and called on them to take on their responsibilities. He requested the Ministry of Education to instruct the TEE to conduct immediate inspections of the school complex facilities. Doukas added that the schools in Gravva would remain closed and classes would be conducted through distance education until the inspections were completed.
