Vor 25 Jahren sass ich nach einer durchgearbeiteten und schlaflosen Nacht meiner sogenannten "14-Tägigen Hausarbeit" in Basel vor meinem Laptop und war mit dem Schlusswort beschäftigt. Damals war es bei den Advokaturprüfungen in Basel üblich, eine solche umfangreiche Arbeit zu verfassen, für die man viel zu wenig Zeit hatte. Mein Thema war "Die verbesserte Rechtsstellung des Nachlassschuldner während der Nachlassstundung". Ich wohnte damals bereits nicht mehr in Basel, sondern in Zürich. Damit ich meine Hausarbeit bei der Kanzlei des Appellationsgerichts vor Schalterschluss abgeben konnte, hatte mir eine Freundin ihre Wohnung zur Verfügung gestellt. Ich hatte bereits die vorangegangene Nacht dort verbracht. Mein Mobiltelefon klingelte. Ich sah, dass es mein Bruder war. Etwas widerwillig nahm ich ab und teilte ihm mit, dass ich im Moment keine Zeit hätte. Ich musste meine Hausarbeit spätestens am 11. September 2001, um 17:00 Uhr, abgeben. Mein Bruder: "Hast du gesehen, dass es eine Explosion beim World Trade Center gegeben hat? Es soll ein Flugzeug gewesen sein." Ich antwortete: "Ich habe jetzt wirklich keine Zeit. Bist du sicher? Das müssen Archivaufnahmen des Terroranschlags von 1993 sein." Bevor ich fortfahren konnte, sagte mein Bruder völlig entsetzt: "Oh nein! Was ist denn das? Das gibt es nicht! Du, jetzt ist ein zweites Flugzeug in den zweiten Turm geflogen! Schalte mal den Fernseher ein!" Ich erwiderte: "Ich kann jetzt nicht, habe eine Frist und muss jetzt arbeiten. Wir sehen uns später." In der Folge versuchte ich mich auf meine Arbeit zu fokussieren und konnte meine Arbeit kurz vor 16:00 Uhr abgeben. Am Gerichtsschalter war eine weitere Prüfungskandidatin, die ich vom Studium kannte. Ich fragte sie, ob sie von den Ereignissen in New York wusste, was sie bejahte. Wir gaben unsere Arbeiten ungefähr gleichzeitig ab und unterhielten uns kurz vor dem Gerichtsgebäude an der Bäumleingasse. Wenig später nahm ich den Zug nach Zürich. Ich erinnere mich an die Gesichter der anderen Zugpassagiere, die schwiegen. Die bedrückte Stimmung war zu spüren. Zu Hause angekommen, schaltete ich den Fernseher ein und sah zum ersten Mal die schrecklichen Bilder des Tages. Da ich in der vorangegangenen Nacht nicht geschlafen hatte, ging ich nach ungefähr einer Stunde ins Bett und wachte am Folgetag erst am späteren Nachmittag auf. Der 11. September 2001 markierte den Beginn eines schrecklichen Herbstes. 16 Tage später fand in meiner Heimatstadt Zug im Kantonsparlament ein Amoklauf statt, bei welchem der Attentäter Friedrich Leibacher 14 Politiker erschoss und zahlreiche andere verletzte. Praktisch jeder Zuger kannte mindestens eine Person unter den Opfern, weil sowohl die Stadt als auch der Kanton Zug so klein sind. In meinem Fall waren es drei Personen. Ich kannte die Tochter eines Regierungsrates, die Tochter einer Kantonsrätin und den Sohn eines Kantonsrates, die mit mir die gleiche Klasse besucht hatten. Es war unfassbar. Dieser kleine idyllische Ort war plötzlich aufgrund der Tragödie weltberühmt geworden. Der Terror war plötzlich sehr nah. Viel später erfuhr ich, dass der Zuger Attentäter von 9/11 sehr beeindruckt gewesen sei. Ein Jugendfreund von ihm berichtete, Leibacher sei «richtig angeturnt» gewesen und hätte «zur Feier des Tages» Champagner geöffnet. In seinem Tagebuch schrieb er anerkennend über Osama bin Laden und die Attentäter: Sie hätten «es ihnen wirklich hart gegeben» und seien nicht feige gewesen, weil sie den eigenen Tod in Kauf genommen hätten. Das hatte auch Friedrich Leibacher. Nach seiner Bluttat hatte er sich selbst das Leben genommen. Der schreckliche Herbst fand seinen Abschluss am 2. Oktober 2001, am Tag des Swissair-Groundings. Die nationale Luftfahrtgesellschaft war nicht irgendein Unternehmen, sondern so etwas wie der Stolz der Schweiz, ähnlich wie die aufklappbaren Taschenmesser oder die Uhren. Was an diesem Tag geschah, tat den Schweizerinnen und Schweizern in der Seele weh und auch in diesem Fall konnten es viele nicht fassen, was geschehen war. Swissair ging zwar nicht wegen 9/11 unter, aber die Anschläge waren ursächlich dafür, dass der Vorgang sich beschleunigt hatte. Nach dem Grounding wurde die Swissair nicht etwa in einem Konkursverfahren liquidiert, sondern mit der schonenderen Nachlassstundung, die - wie oben beschrieben - das Thema meiner Hausarbeit bei meiner Anwaltsprüfung war. Damals war dieses Verfahren extrem selten und da ich mich intensiv damit beschäftigt hatte, wusste ich genau, wie dieses ablief. Rückblickend war 9/11 das Ende einer aus meiner Sicht schönen Zeit, die mit dem Fall der Berliner Mauer am 9. November 1989 begonnen hatte. Wenn ich heute nach 25 Jahren an diesen Tag zurückdenke, glaube ich, dass es dieser Tag war, an dem der Niedergang des Westens begann, der in den vergangenen Jahren durch die postkoloniale Ideologie beschleunigt wurde. Geradezu unfassbar ist für mich aus heutiger Sicht, dass ausgerechnet New York von einem Terror befürwortenden Postkolonialisten regiert wird, der in seiner politischen Umgebung Personen hat, welche sagen, dass die USA 9/11 verdient hätten und der in erster Linie die Muslime als Opfer dieses Terroranschlags sieht, die unter "Islamophobie" gelitten hätten und immer noch leiden würden. Meine Gedanken an diesem Tag sind daher bei den Angehörigen und Freunden der Terroropfer, die heute bei der Gedenkveranstaltung beim Ground Zero seine Präsenz aushalten müssen. #September11 #Erinnerung #Terrorismus
