Britain has seen an explosion of migrating insects: praying mantises, hummingbird hawk moths, hoverflies, cicadas, striped hawkmoths, painted lady butterflies. Some are starting to breed and establish and potentially survive through the winter in the south https://t.co/PO1JkNGOuA #InsectMigration #Biodiversity #ClimateChange #GB

Takie zabrudzenie powoduje znaczne zaburzenie siły nośnej i w rezultacie spadek mocy. Dane: Corten G., Veldkamp H., Aerodynamics. Insects can halve wind turbine power, Nature, 2011, 412, 6842, 41–42.

Social insects are an excellent example of how the genome regulates lifespan 🐜 In Harpegnathos ants, when a queen dies, some workers undergo a caste switch to reproductive pseudo-queens and live up to 5× longer 🤯 Now a new study identifies a specific peptide (HCRG1) that #SocialInsects #AntQueen #LifespanResearch #Thetweetdoesnotmentionanyspecificcountries. Therefore #therearenocountrycodestoreturn.

Research from the University of Sheffield highlights how the "lightning fast" reactions and movement patterns of fruit flies and other insects, driven by a mechanism called high-frequency jumping, can revolutionize artificial intelligence in robotics and self-driving cars by enabling faster, more efficient information processing that combines movement with visual perception. #ArtificialIntelligence #Robotics #Neuroscience #GB

In Gaza, as civilians grapple with the aftermath of conflict and displacement, they face an additional peril from a rampant surge of rodents and insects, exacerbated by deteriorating living conditions, unsanitary environments, and a lack of effective pest control, leading to significant health risks and emotional distress among the population. #Gaza #HealthCrisis #Displacement #PS #IL
