Génération réconciliée avec elle-même, qui se sait trop minoritaire pour pouvoir s’offrir encore le luxe d’être divisée. Les aînés s’étaient tour à tour agacé ou réjoui, selon leurs sensibilités respectives, face à Benoît XVI et François : un pape de droite, un pape de gauche… Léon ne renie ni l’exigence doctrinale du premier ni l’inépuisable appel à la charité du second mais invite par sa bonhomie paisible et sa joie discrète à supplanter les clivages, pour s’atteler à la seule chose qui compte vraiment : faire feu de tout bois pour annoncer l’évangile… pour que le monde ait la vie ! Alors dans une spectaculaire mise en scène digne des plus beaux spectacles du Puy du Fou, ce début de réponse est venu comme une évidence sous la lumière des feux d’artifice : la foule des saints et des saintes qui ont tissé quinze siècles d’histoire chrétienne en France sont, plus sûrement encore que les piliers de Notre-Dame, comme un appui vivant pour édifier cette génération qui vient.
