Germán R. Abril

Germán R. Abril wrote that Carlos Alcaraz had defended his title in Tokyo by defeating Jiri Lehecka 7-6 and 6-4 in a final that he described as very contested. According to Abril, the victory brought Alcaraz's total titles to 27 and was his third trophy of 2026, as well as the first since his injury. He added that his previous title had been in Doha on February 21, 2026, and that he had accumulated 21 consecutive wins in ATP 500 tournaments. #Alcaraz #Tenis #Tokio (translated)

Carlos Alcaraz: "I couldn’t train outdoors until the warm-up this morning, and I hadn’t played any matches on outdoor courts for a long time. I had trained indoors, but the feeling was completely different. The ball feels bigger, and I think the court is quite a bit slower than indoor, so it was difficult to adapt to those conditions and adjust my game. I was a bit frustrated not being able to show my tennis, my style of play, being aggressive, because the conditions didn’t allow me to. It was quite difficult, but I am very happy to have accepted it, to have understood how I had to play, and, obviously, to have achieved victory in the end. It was very important to have these feelings going into the next round and to know what I need to do from now on in the upcoming matches." #Tenis #CarlosAlcaraz #Deporte (translated)
