Zij moet de frisse buitenstaander spelen, hoewel ze al zo lang deel uitmaakt van het politieke meubilair. Keijzer belooft een nieuw rechts geluid. Dat is vertederend. Het CDA heeft kennelijk besloten zichzelf opnieuw uit te vinden door een voormalige CDA’er een andere verpakking te geven. Een beetje BBB-groen op het doosje, een flinke foto van Mona erop en klaar is de revolutie. Rond Project 2029 ruikt alles naar dezelfde vertrouwde politieke kringloop. Oude bestuurders noemen zichzelf vernieuwers, partijmedewerkers veranderen in onafhankelijke denkers en mensen die jarenlang hielpen het systeem te onderhouden komen nu uitleggen hoe dapper zij het gaan bestrijden. De pyromaan presenteert zich als brandpreventie-expert. Wierd Duk, de integriteit-makelaar, mag ondertussen de komst van de nieuwe verlosser aankondigen. Keijzer zou tientallen zetels kunnen halen. Natuurlijk. In Den Haag worden verkiezingsuitslagen alvast geschreven voordat de kiezer heeft begrepen dat hij ergens enthousiast over moet zijn. Het mechanisme is eenvoudig. FVD groeit, dus verschijnt er een keurige opvangbak voor kiezers die verandering willen, maar door de media geleerd hebben dat Forum eng is. Project 2029 mag dezelfde onderwerpen benoemen en dezelfde zorgen herkennen, zolang iedere wezenlijke breuk uitblijft. De toon wordt rebels, de uitkomst betrouwbaar. Dat is de moderne politieke liquidatie. Geen bloed op het asfalt, maar stemmen in een opvangreservoir. Geen moordwapen, maar een mediacampagne. Geen dader die wordt afgevoerd, maar consultants die elkaar na afloop feliciteren met de geslaagde verbreding van rechts. FVD hoeft niet verboden of verslagen te worden. Het hoeft slechts klein genoeg te blijven. Beproefd bij de alternatieve media. Daarvoor verdeel je de kiezer over steeds nieuwe partijen, waarna dezelfde bestuurlijke klasse hoofdschuddend vaststelt dat rechts zo hopeloos versnipperd is. Wat een succesvol NCTV beleid. Project 2029 is daarom geen bedreiging voor het bestel. Het is het afweersysteem van dat bestel. Mona Keijzer wordt niet gelanceerd om de macht te breken, maar om de klap van de groeiende FVD-aanhang op te vangen voordat die het Binnenhof bereikt. Fortuyn werd door een mens geliquideerd. Lieve vrienden en volgers, Ik merk dat ik het steeds moeilijker verdraag. Niet alleen de politieke spelletjes. Niet alleen de propaganda, de halve waarheden of de eindeloze theaterstukken die tegenwoordig voor journalistiek en bestuur moeten doorgaan. Maar vooral het verstikkende gevoel dat werkelijkheid steeds vaker wordt vervangen door een zorgvuldig geregisseerde versie ervan. Woorden betekenen niets meer. Beloftes verdampen. Verantwoordelijkheid bestaat alleen nog voor gewone burgers. En wie nog vragen stelt, wordt weggezet als lastig, gevaarlijk of “niet constructief”. Ik heb jarenlang geprobeerd daar woorden aan te geven. Columns geschreven. Gesprekken gevoerd. Mensen geïnterviewd. Geprobeerd zichtbaar te maken wat zoveel mensen intuïtief allang voelden: dat er iets fundamenteels is verschoven in onze samenleving. Niet alleen in de politiek. Maar in waarheid zelf. Misschien is dat nog wel het zwaarste: het gevoel dat eerlijkheid langzaam iets rebels is geworden. Dat je tegenwoordig moed nodig hebt om simpelweg te zeggen: “Dit klopt niet.” En ondertussen dendert alles verder. Alsof niemand nog wil herinneren wat ooit normaal was. Alsof we collectief geleerd hebben om weg te kijken zolang het eigen comfort niet direct geraakt wordt. Ik schrijf dit niet uit bitterheid. Ook niet uit wanhoop. Maar omdat ik merk dat een mens niet eindeloos tegen de stroom van ontkenning, framing en georganiseerde vergeetachtigheid in kan blijven roeien zonder moe te worden. Soms verlang ik gewoon naar rust. Naar oprechtheid. Naar mensen die nog durven zeggen wat ze werkelijk denken zonder eerst te kijken of het maatschappelijk toegestaan is. Misschien herkennen velen dit gevoel inmiddels. Dat je niet moe bent van het leven, maar moe van het voortdurende toneel eromheen. Die onoprechte oogopslag. Die kwaadaardige gezichtsuitdrukking, Toch blijf ik geloven dat waarheid hardnekkiger is dan propaganda. Dat echte gesprekken uiteindelijk sterker zijn dan opgelegde verhalen. En dat er nog altijd mensen bestaan die weigeren hun geweten uit te besteden. Voor hen ga ik Europa in en voor alles blijf ik schrijven.
