As the representative organization of Jewish and Israeli students at Maastricht University, we have received no formal invitation from the minister or her ministry. Nor have we been informed about the purpose, the mandate, the intended participants, or the measures that may be considered. If the subject concerns the position and experiences of Jewish and Israeli students at Maastricht University, consultations should begin with the organization that represents these students and within the university environment where the relevant events take place. During Ms. Letschert's previous term at Maastricht University, Jewish and Israeli students and their representatives spoke with her and other members of the university administration on numerous occasions. They repeatedly expressed concerns about safety, intimidation, the campus climate, institutional decisions, and the implications of those decisions for Jewish and Israeli students. From those discussions, it appeared that consultations were taking place, but in our experience, they did not lead to measures that corresponded to the issues raised. Clear lines of accountability were also not established for what followed. This history means that the mere fact that there is again a meeting cannot be considered an achievement in itself. Other Jewish organizations and individuals elsewhere in the Netherlands may have legitimate perspectives on broader issues concerning Jewish life, antisemitism, or national policy. However, they do not represent the Jewish and Israeli students at Maastricht University and cannot replace the representative organization of the students whose campus, lecture halls, and daily living environment are directly at stake. A meeting held elsewhere, with discussion partners who do not represent these students, can be viewed as discussions with Jewish organizations, but cannot reasonably be presented as a consultation with the representative organization of Jewish and Israeli students studying at Maastricht University. For that reason, we believe that if the minister wishes to address what is happening at Maastricht University, she should come to Maastricht and engage directly in conversation with the representative organization of Jewish and Israeli students here. The location is important, as responsibility must be aligned with where the issue occurs and not be disconnected from it: the issues being discussed involve this university, the decisions being made here, and the students who experience the consequences of those decisions. Thus, consultations regarding Maastricht should take place in Maastricht and begin with those who are institutionally responsible for representing the involved students. Before such a meeting takes place, we also demand clarity about what the minister aims to achieve with it. We expect to know what questions are being investigated, what decisions or measures remain open, what responsibility the ministry will take on itself, what responsibility it expects from Maastricht University, what concrete follow-up steps are foreseen, and how the outcomes of the meeting will be recorded and communicated. Without that information, participation threatens to serve mainly as proof that consultations have taken place, rather than as a means by which those consultations can actually have an impact. Our concern, therefore, is not about whether there will be a meeting, but about the relationship between consultation and responsibility. We have previously participated in discussions, we have laid out the problems before, and our presence has previously shown that a dialogue existed. What too often has remained unclear, however, is who was responsible for acting on what was raised during those discussions and what actually changed as a result of those discussions. A representative consultation should not end once the participants leave the room, but should record who is responsible for the issues raised, what actions follow from that, and how those actions will be assessed. We remain willing to engage seriously with the minister in Maastricht. However, that consultation must take place with the representative organization of the Jewish and Israeli students whose situation is at stake, with a clear purpose, with well-defined responsibilities, and with an explicit connection between listening and acting. Lad os forestille os, at ledelsen på Niels Bohr Instituttet ansatte mig, fordi jeg vidt og bredt proklamerede, hvor stort et fysik-geni jeg var, trods mit meget lidt imponerende 8-tal i A-niveau fys i gymnasiet. Folkene på NBI var nemlig nemlig vilde med mænd over 190 cm og 95 kg i diversitetens navn - de fleste der er ansat der, er nemlig små pindarme, hvorfor diversiteten ville have godt af en som mig. Herefter begyndte Instituttet at promovere mig som geni, trods det at jeg er et par IQ-standardafvigelser fra instituttets andre ansatte (udover pedellen). Jeg ville i hele min ansættelse give de studerende retarderet vejledning i emner, jeg ikke forstod. Efter et stykke tid fandt Ekstrabladet og BT ud af sagens rette sammenhæng og begyndte at skrive om forholdet, hvorefter jeg bukkede under for presset og ydmygelsen og begik selvmord. Daar heb ik nog eens een paar jaartjes gewerkt. Toen er nog wel een vakgroep neurologie was. Gelukkig maar dat er nog wat gepensioneerde neurologen zijn die af en toe een dagje poli komen doen. Maar dan moet je wel even 110 dagen wachten, want dat is de wachttijd momenteel. En diensten doen? Ach nee, dat willen de gepensioneerden niet meer. Op een na. Verder is er geen afdeling neurologie, geen neurologie op de SEH tijdens de diensten. Echt wat je noemt een volwaardig ziekenhuis. En de @IGJnl zag dat het goed was. Want die is natuurlijk heel druk met de échte misstanden, zoals mensen die informed consent geven en off-label voorschrijven. Dat je 's nachts geen neuroloog hebt die snel kan komen kijken, ach, dat is niet zo'n groot probleem. Dan ben je als patiënt mooi de pineut als je toevallig voor een ander probleem opgenomen werd. En wat is het dan toch aardig dat ik per 1 januari 2027 begin met mijn eigen kliniek. Advieswerk, second opinions én eerste consulten. Want dat mag. Waarbij ik dubbele tijd neem voor patiënten, zelf het zenuwgeleidings-onderzoek en EMG kan doen, en ook de echografie zelf doe. Ik kan eventueel ook een MRI aanvragen en zo nodig ook laboratoriumonderzoek. Dan volgt er een diagnose en een (behandel)advies. Chronische behandelingen mag ik niet doen, omdat ik dan moet voldoen aan de regels voor een ZBC. Dat kan ik niet en dat wil ik ook niet. Want 70-80% van wat ik nu op de poli doe, zijn ook eerste consulten die ik na aanvullend onderzoek kan afsluiten. Mensen zullen dan een klein deel van het traject zelf moeten betalen, omdat ik geen contract met de ziektekostenverzekeraars wil. Afhankelijk van de polis wordt echter het grootste deel wel betaald. En dan mogen mensen zelf uitmaken of het dat waard is. Maar eerst zal ik nog een periode hard moeten werken en flink moeten studeren. Ik ben weer ongeveer terug op het niveau waar ik was toen ik stopte, maar het kan nog beter. Elke dag een of twee reviews lezen, de oude handboeken nog eens goed doornemen en vooral heel veel patiënten zien. Dat zijn er inmiddels alweer ongeveer duizend, dus ik ga de goede kant op. Volle werkweken, lange dagen en veel diensten. Dat is zoals ik het nu wil hebben. Zodat ik alles weer gezien en gedaan heb. Wel grappig was dat ongeveer een half jaar geleden, toen ik zelf nog lang niet het idee had dat ik weer op mijn oude niveau was een collega - niet de meest subtiele in haar communicatie het volgende antwoordde toen ik dat zei: "Nou, over dat niveau zou ik me maar géén zorgen maken, daar mankeert niks aan!" Back in town. Back in business. Mijn eigen kliniek, verlost van de dwang van het ziekenhuis en alles wat daarbij komt kijken. De #Hommelhaters mogen wegblijven.
